The public library of the city of Bochum with its 370,000 inhabitants has, in addition to the central library in the city, six branches in Gerthe, Langendreer, Linden, Querenburg, Wattenscheid and Wiemelhausen. Since 2006, signotec products have been used for electronic signatures in all stores to apply for library cards. The signature pad signotec Sigma and the signoSign signature software have been in use since 2014, which also ensures conformity with the ISO standards. Technically, the products were seamlessly integrated into the existing library process.
When applying for the ID card, first a customer account is created in the library management software. The application will then be generated as PDF in the signature software and will be signed via the signature pad. The PDF with the original signature of the customer is then clearly stored under the respective customer number.
The signature pad signotec Sigma is ideal for this application due to its compact and robust design. Swinging signatures can be captured on the large sensor without reaching the limit of the sensor. The numerous RSA encryption mechanisms in the pad provide additional security.
The employees of the public library benefit from this procedure by an efficient registration process and a considerable saving of paper and other material costs.
