More than 65,000 patients are hospitalized annually at the Hannover Medical School and each of these patients must sign a treatment contract for admission. This used to be done manually in paper form over three signatures of the patient on the respective contract copies: one for the patient himself, one for the archive and one for the patient record on the ward. The copies had then to be sorted and transported via the in-house mail either to the archive department or to the respective station - a time-consuming process in which it sometimes happened that important copies only reached the destination by detours.
Since 2015, this process has been significantly streamlined. After reading in the health card at the admission points of the central patient admission, the pediatric clinic, the dental clinic, the gynecological clinic, the emergency department as well as the mobile patient admission, the patient's master data are transferred directly into the treatment contract via contract software. A time-consuming manual entry of the master data is completely eliminated, only the answers to some individual supplementary questions must be entered. Subsequent signing of the treatment contracts will be carried out with signotec electronic signatures solutions.

After configuration, the signature pad communicates with the server via this established virtual channel. The signotec Sigma itself is characterised by the robust and compact design, making it ideal for use in mobile patient recording. The large sensor allows even complex signatures which are then precisely captured on the pad.
The signoSign/2 signature software, in turn, is used to create and sign handwritten PDF documents, which can then be further processed automatically. The advanced electronic signatures created with signoSign/2 comply with the ISO standard as well as the requirements of the eIDAS regulation and thus offer reliable proof and legal certainty.
Through this procedure, the MHH saves an immense amount of time, costs and resources: only one copy of the treatment contract is printed out for the patient, everything else is digitally captured and archived or forwarded accordingly.
In addition to drawing up the treatment contracts, MHH also uses signotec's solutions at the end of the hospital stay for discharge management. The ease of use and reliable operation mean that the solutions have been received very positively both by the employees and the patients.
